Senate Bill S.49

Sen. Ted StevensSenate Bill S.49 could ban sites like wikipedia and myspace from public schools and libraries.

Like last years DOPA, S.49, intended to protect children from online predators, could ban informational sites like wikipedia that have user accounts with profiles.

The real scary thing here: Its sponsored by Sen. Ted Stevens of tubular fame!

I don’t think it’ll pass. Usually bills that ludicrous don’t pass. Only communists or fascists (aka Far Left or Far Right) would vote for crazy stuff. Moderates on the left or right aren’t idiots though, so they won’t vote for something that would ban Wikipedia from libraries. Though, they might have it tweaked to fix that problem b/c I agree with banning myspace from libraries. I hate myspace.

An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a coworker who had been conducting a little homework on this. And he actually bought me breakfast due to the fact that I found it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending the time to discuss this subject here on your blog.
