Sure we’ve heard numerous rumors about Dead Rising 2 in the past, but the latest issue of EGM has one that is certainly a bit more shocking than the rest. According to the mag, Dead Rising 2 is coming, but not by way of Capcom’s development studios. The alleged new developer is not named in the article, but it is noted that it looks to be a Western team, possibly one based in LA.

If all of this turns out to be true, we can only hope that this sequel will be able survive without the Japanese charm and style that made its predecessor so much fun to play. And what is to become of all of the references to former Capcom games that could be found throughout the Willamette Parkview Mall? I want my Mega Buster!

We have to try and remember, however, that rumors are rumors for a reason. This one is a little wild, so take it with a grain of salt, but this is the same issue that is promising a first (albeit unofficial) look at Gears of War 2. Maybe EGM knows something that the rest of us don’t.
