Metal Gear 3 Subsistance provided a new stealth based online experience that many MGS fans cherished, but it looks as if Konami overestimated how many people would play it. Although the game itself sold relitivly well, the online players were on comprised of a small fraction of those who bought it. As a result of this, today Konami updated their MGS:O support site letting the readers know that April 3rd ‘07 will be the last day to play online. In the same update, Konami encourages their fans to play MGS: Portable Ops online instead, but I’m sure it’s just not the same.
As always seems to happen in these situations, the small fanbase of the online play is throwing together an online petition in an attempt to change Konami’s collective mind. However, it is very doubtful that this decision will be reversed by the company’s higher ups.
