Not too many people could have seen this coming just years ago. And yet, it has: the largest sports network in the world has agreed to cover the latest news from MLG tournaments. Sure, the agreement may only be with MLG for now, but if successful, a huge demand for pro gaming news could erupt. Not only will ESPN cover post-game results, but will feature live streams of matches and updates stats on all tournament players. All this and more can be found on ESPN’s new MLG page. It seems that some top ESPN execs believe gaming will provide just what future generations of fans want to see. “Adding MLG content to our already comprehensive offering will help us continue to deliver the best news, information and entertainment to our growing gaming audience,” said John Kosner, senior vice president and general manager of ESPN digital media. The agreement is a historic day for gaming, and could bring video game tournaments up to the changing mainstream audiences over time.
