Some people may have heard about the latest version of the rumor that the Xbox 360 will be getting Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This rumor has been coming up on and off all through out 2007, so it seems fitting to start 2008 with it. XboxFamily first started the rumor this time around after announcing that they had spoken to a Konami PR rep who said that the game was indeed coming to the X360. TheGameReviews along with almost everyone in the gaming community didn’t believe them, but TheGameReviews took the time to confirm the falsity of the rumor. After speaking with their PR person, the almost-confirmed was confirmed. Here is what they had to say:
“For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.”
There you have it…what you probably already knew.

The Xbox 360 fanboys just won’t quit making up evidence to feed this rumor over and over again. Amazing how the rumor just can’t die despite of the many explicit statements from Sony, Konami, Kojima Productions and others assuring and reassuring its exclusivity for Playstation 3 every now and then.
What’s most sad though is that it’s not that the people who keep feeding this rumor really want to play MGS4 on the 360, but what they seek the most is to see PS3 losing important exclusives so that they feel the PS3 has finally failed. This is not about wanting to play games anymore, it’s just utter human stupidity.
PATHETIC scrawny xbox fanboys with no lives, Sony is producing and funding the MGS movie (BLURAY EXCLUSIVE HAHAHAHA)..hideo is directing, MGS4 will NEVER come out for the xbox.
Get with it, you guys are nobodys..you don’t know anything, you sit there wasting your time online HOPING a great game like MGS4 (PS3 EXCLUSIVE) will somehow be compressed and gimped for your pathetic console.

Woah O.o… One game, don’t make such a big deal over it.. In no way is the 360 a “gimped” console.. It has Mass Effect, Bioshock, a PLAYABLE Orange Box, Halo 3, etc.. etc…
Jesus Christ. I love how the 30 year olds who live with their moms see fit bashing the 360. Okay, hooray, you guys have an incredible game coming to your system. What exactly is bashing the guy who doesn’t have the PS3, or rather, cannot afford the PS3 doing to help you? I myself am considering whether or not to buy a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing this game. You Sony “Fanboys” (idk what they call you..) are not helping promote your system.

What has happened to the gamers? All I see is people promoting ths systems and not necessarily the games. Both systems are really impressive and I love great games so that’s what drives me. I have both systems and they are both strong. Sony’s 2008 may very well be like 360’s 2007, but that’s great for the gamers. Some of you guys sound really childish on here by the way you try to down another system. Would you SOny fanboys actually turn your nose up to great games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Gears of War just because it’s on a competing system? WOuld 360 fanboys turn their noses up to games like Uncharted, MGS4, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 2 just because it’s on a competing system? That’s absolutely crazy to me.
if mgs4 is a timed exclusive they have an obligation to protect the integrity of that claim. this rumour has come and gone too many times to be complete BS, if nothing else it’s constant re-surfacing is convincing konami that they SHOULD port the game. people are obviously interested.
i didn’t like mgs2 and switched to xbox before mgs3 so never played that one. mgs4 is supposed to be a sequel to mgs2 and as such mgs2 was an xbox title as well, so the logical conclusion here is that the 12-14 month thing is more likely accurate than not at all. but because there’s no room for logical thought on the internet, wah pwnzors fanbois are clevers

MGS2 was on Xbox but the port was highly criticised. the fact is Kojima has creative control over the project and he is too valuable to be let go over whatever profit there is to be made from ONE game going multiformat. Kojima has stated that the PS3 is the only console which can truely realise his vision of the game and as such the game is an exclusive title. that is that
MGS5 (this game was anounced with MGS4 and will star Raiden if the anouncement is valid) will probably be multiformat but the question is will this game be a step back given that the 360 cant suport MGS4 (through whatever restricion Kojima is talking about)
Intrest or no the oficial line from konami is “if you want to play this game you have to buy a PS3″
they never budged on bringing Portable OPs or Silent Hill Origins to the home consoles despite the HUGE demand so i think they will stick to their guns
possibly valid points i’m not much of a fan of japanese games in general so i haven’t seen much of them…the main reason i moved to xbox initially more games suited to my tastes. however there is always the question of money. mgs4 is sounding like a big budget title and current ps3 numbers may not do the game justice.
if it comes down to it a quick port to x360 (keeping in mind it does work that way around, just not the otherway around due to the complexity of cell) even if there IS a technical hurdle (Kojima did state very early on he could port mgs4 to xbox as well. this has always been one of those rumours that refused to settle down and die.
but with 17.7 million x360’s out there even 10% of that userbase is paying it’s own way in costs.
my opinion is that it’s simply pre recorded cutscene sequences or another “lets load 7 languages onto the one disk” issue and not a legitimate limitation of the hardware itself.
if it really came down to cash though you could argue a gimped ps2 version would net even more cash than any other option… but i digress
