Konami Shortens MGS4 Release Window; Addresses Multiplatform Possibilities

solidsnake.jpg

An attendee of today’s Konami analyst meeting is reporting that Konami President Fumiaki Tanaka announced some new details regarding MGS4’s release date and the possibilities of MGS games on other platforms. According to this insider, Tanaka confirmed that MGS4 will be hitting store shelves in Q4 of March ‘08. He also stated that an exact release date will be announced at this year Tokyo Game Show.

The other major point from this meeting comes from another one of President Tanaka’s quotes. During the meeting, he stated:

“As we are aware of the popularity and hardware-driving power of this software franchise, going forwards we are open to taking this franchise across to other platforms.”

Does this mean that Konami is still considering bring MGS4 to the Xbox 360? Perhaps he is talking about games in the MGS franchise in general. We will have to wait and see!

“we are open to taking this FRANCHISE across to other platforms.”

I think that Tanaka was referring to the future release of other Metal Gear titles on the Xbox 360. It would only makes sense that the titles like the upcoming Metal Gear Online would be released on the 360 due to the greater online community. MGS4 still could be released on other platforms, but this seems to be hinting at other titles.

shane, your comment is far out of line. the metal gear franchise has been on about every major console, including nintendo’s and microsoft’s. If the 360 is now selling more hardware than PS3, for example, there is nothing wrong with Konami thinking about porting it so it can reach a major number of audience. Think about it this way: if you put out a work of art, say, a record, wouldn’t you like it to reach the most number of people it can? It’s actually good bussiness too!

what a fanboy. If you didnt notice, MGS3 was on the original ‘Box. It may take a while, but it’ll come to the 360, especially if Konami wants to sell a few more copies.

Metal Gear’s story never makes any sense anyhow… and Sam Fisher has been wiping the floor with Snake for years now. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

    @ dubbzo:

Just a small correction: MGS3 didn’t come to the Xbox. I think you might have meant MGS:2, is that right?

The mgs4 game will never make it on the 360…it is to inferior compared to the ps3’s capabilities…not many of the ps3 games out right now are using the complete potential of the ps3 capabilities…just wait and see when mgs4 comes out it’ll be awesome…and even if it goes to the 360…it wont be near as good as the ps3 version!
