Metroid Dread is Nearing Completion?

6.jpgFor some the 2-D Metroid Series on Game-Boy Advance have been some of the greatest handheld games ever and needless to say these people were disappointed when Metroid Prime: Hunters was annouced and released for the DS as a 3-D game. And their hopes were further squashed when Metroid Dread, a game found on a list of TBA DS games, was unofficially cancelled. Metroid Dread was suppose to be a 2-D DS game that went back to the roots of the Metroid series. However, there still might be hope for Dread from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Early reviewers of the game have found a mysterious message in a world from researching a panel.

“Experiment status report update: Metroid project ‘Dread’ is nearing the final stages of completion.”

Is this the proof of a 2-D DS game? Retro having fun with Metroid fans? Who knows, really; but, then again who doesn’t love a mystery.

Nintendo Hates Loves Metroid Prime 3: Corruption [Update]

metroid.PNG

Bold statement? Yeah. A true one? I think so.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is one of my most anticipated games and you can imagine how giddy I am with it’s release only two weeks away. But, where is Nintendo’s pre-release advertising and hype? IGN recently wrote an article about the lack of prerelease hype for Metroid and that brought it to my attention. Nintendo is completely ignoring this huge game to promote games that are coming out way later on this year and some of these games don’t even have any huge followings. For example, the huge segment at Nintendo’s E3 Conference on Wii Fit. A game that is used to help the senior citizen in Wyoming play video games. However, at the same confernece Nintendo had a stage demo of Metroid and not even a playable one on the floor! I think the reason for this is that Metroid Prime 2, did not have many innovations compared to the first Prime and lacked the sales, too. If that is the reason Nintendo should rethink their marketing stragedy for the game because it lends a very unique expirence by literally letting you control Samus’s gun. I’m going to buy the game whether Nintendo markets it or not, but I feel bad for the people that don’t get a chance to learn about the game because of the lack of advertising.

PS – If you quickly want to the how bad this is head over to http://www.metroid.com and notice the absence of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from the site.

Update: Nintendo seems to have changed their advertising policy on Metroid for the better. They have now updated the site and added a Wii Channel. Along with officially declaring this Metroid month. I guess I spoke to soon. Sorry guys

This isn’t much news, but I am really excited for this game’s release especially since the new details. But, the cover art for the game has been revealed with Samus Aran standing back to back against her evil counterpart, hint the corruption. This game looks promising and may get me back into my Wii!
