Ever since the 4 different types of controllers for SSBB was annouced, I have been a little iffy on whether or not the Wii’s control scheme would lend itself to the fast action combat style everyone loves in Super Smash. That is why I was always pretty decided that I would use the Gamecube controller for the game as opposed to the Wii-mote and Nunchuk. However, these new details on the control scheme may sway me the other way because the controls do seem pretty easy and don’t actually implement the motion-sensing, as of right now.
The controls shown are much the same as Melee controls where you would hold down the A button and a direction on the control stick for special moves. I imagine the same thing on the Gamecube controller. This is simple enough and may even been simpler using the Wii-mote and nunchuk, as compared to the Gamecube controller. For the side-ways Wii-mote controls you will have to hold down the 1+2 buttons and then use a control pad to do a special move and for the Classic controller you will hold down A and use the left control stick for the special moves. I think the only difficult control set is the side-ways Wii-mote side because holding down two buttons can get a little hectic. But, I’m sure HAL has thought this through and will try to make it enjoyable for everyone using every kind of control scheme.
