Killzone 2 Gets a Release Date: February 27, 2009

X-Play has revealed the release date for Killzone 2 on their daily show. The date: February 27, 2009. This date was made official for only the United States, but the other dates (for PAL regions) should be around that date. The game was originally slated for March of 2008, and then pushed back to Q4 of 2008, but now it has an official date of February after a slew of delays, problems, and few details about the game. The FPS does have some of the best graphics in any console game ever giving even Crysis, a PC game, a run for its money. The game is definitely set to impress with extraordinary multiplayer from what I’ve seen. The Playstation 3 desperately needs a game like this to thwart the rise in popularity of the Xbox 360 and maybe take some more market share. We’ll wait and see if this game can do it, but from what I’ve heard about it so far it might actually hold a chance of getting a lot more PS3’s off the shelves.

Konami Squashes 360 MGS4 Rumor…Again

mgs4-snake-fig1.jpgSome people may have heard about the latest version of the rumor that the Xbox 360 will be getting Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This rumor has been coming up on and off all through out 2007, so it seems fitting to start 2008 with it. XboxFamily first started the rumor this time around after announcing that they had spoken to a Konami PR rep who said that the game was indeed coming to the X360. TheGameReviews along with almost everyone in the gaming community didn’t believe them, but TheGameReviews took the time to confirm the falsity of the rumor. After speaking with their PR person, the almost-confirmed was confirmed. Here is what they had to say:

“For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.”

There you have it…what you probably already knew.

E3 2007: Assassin’s Creed Screens

assassins-creed-20070710001348912.jpg

IGN was able to play a demo of  Assassins’s Creed today and their was a lot of praise for it. They say that the way you can interact with the world in so many ways is amazing, with the ability to climb or interact with anything that is two inches or bigger. Another major feature of the game was the scale of the city that the demo was in. The city is described as being huge and beautiful with so much to do. After reading the preview and checking out the new screens, I am more excited for this game than ever.

E3 2007: Konami Exec Hints At MGS on the 360

mgs4-4-lg.png

“Since Metal Gear Solid was born for the PlayStation, we would like to keep it a PlayStation game. But we might have to take some steps,” Kitaue said in an interview with Yahoo! pre-E3 2007. That statement could signal definite loss of the PS3 in the console war, because it hints at the loss of the only major exclusive title that the PS3 has left to offerto gamers. In the interview with Yahoo, Kitaue expresses his disappointment in the PS3’s sales and how he fears this would hurt his product, MGS4, if it was released as an exclusive Playstation title. He also does not see much to be excited about with the PS3’s new price drop because he explains that it only made way for another, more expensive model. Even though this could end up being a really sad day for PS3 gamers, the game is still slated for March 2008 as an exclusive title on the PS3.
