Grand Theft Auto 4: Lost and Damned, First Expansion Details

Way before Grand Theft Auto 4 was even out, details about 2 expansions exclusively for Xbox 360 were already buzzing around the internet. Eventually, it was uncovered that Microsoft had to pay a hefty 50 million dollar price tag for the exclusivity of the expansions. The game was released, received rave reviews, and made insane amounts of cash, but details about the expansions remained scarce…until now! It turns out the expansions were much closer than anyone thought, in fact the first will be hitting next month, February 17th, for 1600 MS Points which is $20.

Some have received early previews of the expansion and they say it features about 10-20 hours of extra gameplay, new weapons, new missions, new music, and a biker gang? Not sure about the last one, but it seems like a good value if it ends up actually giving 20 hours of gameplay. Some sad news is that there will be no area additions to Liberty City, only new buildings. Here are some links to previews of the expansion and be sure to check back here for a review of the expansion when it actually hits the marketplace.

Rock Band ‘Still Alive’ DLC Available Now

stillaliverockband_rotpodorig2.JPG

Since I wasn’t expecting to be able to rock out to Johnathon Coulton’s awesome Portal theme song until tomorrow, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the ‘Still Alive’ Rock Band DLC available for download on the XBLM when I was strolling around on it a few minutes ago. Having just played through it on each and every instrument, I can safely assure you that this download is worth every penny it costs and then some. Wait a second, I forgot: its free too! Best. DLC. Ever.

There is no reason not to pick this gem up, so make sure you jump online and grab it pronto. Rock responsibly people.

Harmonix Announces Rock Band for Wii

Rock Band

Sometimes everyone is right. These instances of universal correctness may only come once in a blue moon mind you, but they do exist. In fact, one of these miraculous events appears to have happened today, as Harmonix has announced Rock Band for the Nintendo Wii, just like we all knew they would. The Wii version will hit store shelves on June 22nd as the ‘Rock Band Special Edition’, and will bundle the game with a drum set, a microphone, and a wireless guitar. Going against the oh so common special edition mold however, the title will have the standard price tag of $169.99. Nice!

Oh, and for you Wii gamers who don’t trust bundles, Harmonix has gotcha covered. A disc only version will retail on the same day along with standalone versions of each instrument for the Wii.

Happy rockin’ Wii players!

An Undeniable Confirmation for Rock Band on the Wii

Rock Band

Sure, this might have slipped out before when the packaging for the new Rock Band mic declared that it worked on the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the Wii. But was that just a typo? After all, Electronic Arts, Rock Band’s publisher, never announced a Wii version, even after Harmonix hinted at it. It turns out that the microphone did, indeed, broadcast the truth. John Riccitiello, CEO of EA, alluded to an upcoming Rock Band title for the Wii during a press call. Furthermore, EA announced that Rock Band would be released for all SKUs some time this year, which would of course mean a Wii launch as well. Hopefully the Wii version will have all the cool features we have grown to love, and many more.

Rock Band for Xbox 360 Lacks Wireless Instruments

Gamepro is reporting that a Microsoft employee confirmed that Rock Band will definetly retail for $199 for the PS3 and X360, but the Xbox 360 lacks the option for wireless instruments. This has not been confirmed by any other source, but even if this is true you can always use the Guitar Hero 3 guitar for the game. Wireless capabilties for the PS3 and Wii versions (not dated) have been confirmed by Ars Technica leaving the Xbox 360 in the dust. This wireless issue could possibly be because the Xbox 360 does not have Bluetooth or because Microsoft never gives the license to companies to utilize the Xbox 360’s wireless. Well make your decision on your on November 6th when the game comes out for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
