After tons of news hit today about Best Buy reducing the price of the Xbox 360 HD DVD player from $179.99 to $159.99 via a bundle online, I was a little surprised to find this bundle priced at $649.99. Here is why:

• Xbox 360 Pro Console – $399.99
• Xbox 360 HDDVD Player (with alleged Best Buy discount) – $149.99
• Xbox 360 Wireless controller – $49.99
• Xbox 360 Bundle with these components – $600 $649.97 (WTF?!)

Lets look at this mathematically shall we?

$400 [360] + $150 [HD DVD Player] +$50 [Controller] = … $600! Not $650!

Even with the recently announced $179.99 price point for the HD DVD add on, this bundle should still only come out to $630. The only way it could be this expensive is if they are pricing the HD DVD drive at it’s old old price of $199.99. What is going on? Maybe I’m missing something, but this seems like monkey-business to me!
