Fooled Ya’! Happy April Fool’s Day!

bigdaddy_wiimote.JPG

You may have noticed that all of the posts on the site today broke some crazy news story that no-one saw coming, and yes, it was all too good (or in some cases too bad) to be true. None of the stories that we have posted today are true. None of them are even sort of true. Some of you (or most of you) probably figured that out the second you laid your eyes on the blog today, but we are certain that some of you were fooled. We think…

Oh well! Its all fun and games and don’t worry, it ends tonight. Real news is returning to Rotpod starting tomorrow, so you can go back to trusting us now. Seriously.

Oh, you want to check out all the April Fool’s goodness you say? Just follow the April Fool’s tag and look at how our commenters laughed at our pathetic attempts at pranking.

April Fool’s: Mr. Bubbles’ Adventure Announced for Wii

bigdaddy_wiimote2.JPG

There is a general consensus amongst reviewers in our industry that Bioshock, the singleplayer shooter which took the Xbox 360 by storm last year, is one of the greatest games in recent memory. I mean, the reception of the title was unbelievably good across the board, and it even managed to earn our very own Game of the Year award for 2007. So how do you follow a game like Bioshock? It is almost impossible to create a straight sequel, and a prequel would have to change the gameplay completely. I guess you just have to try something completely different…

Enter Mr. Bubbles’ Adventure, the upcoming action/adventure game that will allow Wii gamers to take on the role of a ‘Big Daddy’ who’s job is to protect a ‘Little Sister’ at all costs. There are no screens or videos just yet, but we do have confirmation that the game will be set just before the events of Bioshock, and that the two storylines will cross paths somewhere along the line. On the gameplay side of things, we only know that the game will feature a first person view, and that the Wiimote will be used to control the ‘Big Daddy’s’ arm-drill that we have all come to know and love.

Wii players can look foreward to experiencing a Big Daddy fight from the other perspective when this game hits shelves in Q3 of this year.

April Fool’s: Master Chief to Make Cameo Appearance in Gears of War 2

This one is hot off the presses folks! We have just received word that everyone’s favorite covenant blasting action hero will be fighting along side Marcus Fenix in the upcoming Xbox 360 title, Gears of War 2. We hear that the Master Chief will become a part of Marcus’ squad for a full act at some point during the game, and that his appearance will somehow link the storylines of Halo 3 and the next Halo title in which he will star. I wonder if spartans are any good at blindfire…

That’s not all though folks, as we have also been informed that playing as Spartan 117 in co-op has been ruled a possibility for the final version of the game. If they can pull this one off well, we might end up seeing one of the coolest video game tie-ins ever when Gears 2 releases this November.

duke_nukem_forever_12.jpg

Can you believe it? Finally, after countless years of waiting, we’ve get a solid release date for one of the most infamous games of all time, Duke Nukem: Forever. Today, 3D Realms announced that Duke Nukem would be blowing stuff up in time for the holiday season, as it will be shipping on November 20th of this year. Looks like Gears of War 2 might have some stiff competition.

The game will be hitting the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, with a Wii version planned for early 2009. Let’s just hope that our buddy Duke doesn’t get struck with another delay, so that we can actually get to playing this game come the end of the year.
