Let me just say it and then we will go into more detail:

I performed this unboxing quite some time ago, but I haven’t put the game away for long enough to post it until now. Well better late then never I guess, right? So without further ‘ado, here is the documented unboxing of Grand Theft Auto IV’s limited edition (after the jump).
Okay, so much of our day was spent playing GTA IV and the rest was spent debating if there was a difference between the two versions game. We know that the Xbox 360 version of the game features the two exclusive expansions coming in the future and the PS3 version of the game is touted as having multi-bump aliasing. We also realize that either the integration of Xbox Live into the multiplayer or the motion sensing controls for the PS3 (mind you they suck) could make or break some people’s choice on which console to buy it for. This video might help:

We have all waited for what has felt like an eternity for this moment, and now it has finally come! Grand Theft Auto IV is officially out here on the East Coast, and the rest of the nation is only hours away from finally getting their hands on this most coveted title. When you are not too busy playing, be sure to check back here throughout the day for all of the Rotpod style GTA goodness that we will be churning out, and don’t forget to eat or sleep once in a while either. We know it can be hard to remember sometimes…
Congrats to all of you guys who just picked up the game this minute at your respective midnight-opening locations! I have a feeling that a lot of our readers, and a large percentage of the gaming population as a whole will be mysteriously off of work ’sick’ today…
Its not often that a person close to Rotpod gets a gaming tattoo, so when something like this happens its a big event. Enter Tom, longtime friend of Rotpod and Zelda enthusiast. Tom is so into Zelda, that he decided to get a Triforce, the staple image of the series, tattooed on his back. The result? Straight up awesomeness! Check out more pics after the jump.

Sure it might seem like GTA IV is still a long way off, but here on the east coast we only have 5 hours left until we are blasting our way through the streets of liberty city. We have waited a long, long, time for this day my fellow gamers, and now we are so close that we can taste it. Can you hold on just that little bit longer?
Here are a few GTA-centric things to help occupy your time until midnight. Well, its a start at least.

Ever since Rockstar’s press embargo was lifted earlier today, there has been an unstoppable rush of GTA IV goodness from every gaming press site you can think of. So instead of having you crawl all over the web like a hungry spider, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of some major reviews for this year’s most highly anticipated title.

Thanks to our buddies over at Xbox360Achievements.org, we now have a final list of achievements for GTA IV. While we have seen some of these in the past, many are new, and obtaining the full set still looks as if it will be quite the challenge. The achievements range from requiring players to beat the final mission, all the way to making them kill a Rockstar developer in an online match in order to unlock them. All in all it looks like a fun set to go after. Check out the full list after the jump.
Today at about 12pm Eastern Time, the GTA press embargo was dropped, making it legal for outlets to release all the videos and reviews that have been stashed away for so long. Suddenly, a flood of GTA IV goodness poured out of all corners of the net, and Gametrailers was one of the first to dump loads of content onto their unsuspecting viewers. What does this mean for all of you? It means that you are about to get one HUGE serving of Liberty City pie, and boy does it taste sweet.
What follows the jump is a collection of GTA IV videos so huge, that you might actually be able to spend all of the remaining time between now and the game’s release watching them. This is one video bonanza that you do not want to miss!

Time flies doesn’t it? Wait, who am I kidding? The next day and a half will likely feel like an eternity for the millions of gamers who have been itching to play Grand Theft Auto IV since its announcement almost two years ago. So how is one supposed to fill that time? I mean, we all have to do something to stop us from going insane, right? Here are a couple things you could occupy your time with:
Hmm, maybe there isn’t really all that much to do after all…

One of our favorite conventions of the year here at the Rotpod HQ has to be NY Comic Con, the huge annual event which brings its attendees deep into the world of comics, gaming, and general geek culture for 3 days out of the year. Rotpod has been covering the event ever since its debut three years ago, and in 2008, we are planning to bring you the biggest and best coverage of NYCC yet! Look out all weekend long for constant updates and podcasts straight from the show floor, and if you can make it out to Javits for the event, we’ll see you there!

Sure, Gamestop may have accidentally let Wii Fit’s price-tag slip a little early, but its always nice to have some confirmation from the big N. Just today, Nintendo of America announced that the upcoming fitness game will be hitting U.S. shores on May 19th at an MSRP of $89.99.
Oh and don’t worry, that price covers the game and the balance board peripheral. No Special Edition to be found here people, move along.

PS – This console is different from the regular PS3 in the MGS Bundle, this is solely the branded console.

Patcher. Michael Patcher. Everyone’s favorite video game industry analyst, bearer of news before it even becomes news, and overall awesome guy! What do you have for us today oh great soothsayer of the digital realm?
What’s that you say about GTA IV? Possible what? Possible delay?! Let’s take a deep breath, calm down, and talk this over shall we?
Speaking to Jeff Keighley on the internet gaming show Bonus Round, Mr. Patcher talked about the possiblity of Electronic Arts acquiring Take-Two, and what effect such a take over could have on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV. And those effects? Not so good. Straight from Patcher’s mouth:
“I think if EA takes over Take-Two, they have an economic incentive to delay GTA IV.”
You had better start hoping that this deal never goes down my fellow gamers, or these April showers might not bring any May flowers. Not for GTA fans at least.
Here is an interesting chart I found browsing the web:

Gran Turismo has always been called one of the most realistic sim racers in the industry and many regard it to be the most realistic. But, you might ask how, seeing that the game never featured car damage of any kind like some of it’s counterparts. That has also always been a major criticism of the game and probably a major reason why other sim games are still even in the running for most realistic. But, that problem is going to be fixed very soon. Game lead, Kazunori Yamauchi, has announced that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue will be receiving an update in the fall that will add car damage and this is looking good for the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5. Well that’s all the news about it really, the game is coming out in the US pretty soon and it already out in Japan. So be sure to check it out as buying a PS3 begins to sound more and more like a logical decision.

There have been many complaints about Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii from hardcore players, mainly because the game is slower and a lot of the features that players have come to love have been taking out. I’m am by no means the hardcorest Super Smash Bros. player and haven’t played in 10,000 tournaments, so I don’t really get these criticisms. So the following videos really helped in that department. Here are two tournament-ranked players talking about the game in a series of 3 videos from IGN. The other two videos are after the break.
That’s right folks, one of our favorite conventions of the year is right around the corner, and its jam packed with gaming this year! The final day of the show is going to have gaming panels galore, and it will be kicked off by a Gears of War 2 presentation by Epic Games. Our coverage of NYCC is always complete, so look foreword to us blogging and podcasting non-stop from the show floor when the con rolls around on the weekend of April 18th. You don’t want to miss this!
