Online Confirmed for Super Smash Brothers Brawl

wi-fi01_070918d-l.jpg

Wii fans must be rejoicing right now because one of the most anticipated games for the Wii has finally confirmed that it will have online play (one of few). That game is Super Smash Brothers Dojo and it is nonetheless an amazing annoucement. The post on the official Smash Bros. blog describes some of the features like a friend list, a personal icon, and ability to send quick preassigned messages in game. Along with being able to play with all your friends, you will also be able to play with complete strangers similar to matchmaking in Xbox Live games. The post also indicates that you will be able to play with people from all over the world (mainly Japan) and that probably won’t be a probelem because there will be no voice chat (as we know so far). Check out some more screens after the link.

1Up Confirms New Sixaxis With Rumble

230153268.jpg

The 1Up Yours! podcast this week reveals that Sony plans to unveil a new DualShock controller at the Tokyo Game Show this week. This controller is obviously going to look the same exact way the other two DualShock’s have looked, but at least no suprises. And really who likes suprises. Hopefully this will help Sony get back into the game console market this fall with competitors such as Halo 3 and PGR4. Also, they seem to be the only console manfacturer with big annoucements this E3.

Drink Review – Mountain Dew Halo 3 Game Fuel

gamefuelreview.jpg

If there is one thing we love as much as gaming, its the stuff that keeps us up to frag noobs all night. While most of our caffeine comes from energy drinks, sodas definitely have their place in pushing our gaming deep into the am as well. So when soda and gaming come together into a giant ball of marketing deliciousness, we have to admit that we are intrigued.

Energy

Mountain Dew’s Halo 3 themed Game Fuel is sort of a mix between an energy drink and a regular soda. With 30% more caffeine than normal Dew, it will provide you with a bit more of a kick without any extra cost. Each can has about 87mg of caffeine and a bottle has around 120mg, which is more than drinks like Red Bull and Bawls will offer you, so you wont have to worry about falling asleep at the wheel of your warthog. The price is much more reasonable then those kinds of drinks too, with a twelve pack only running you about the cost of about 2 energy drinks. You will probably need to down more than a few of these babies to pull an all nighter, but one will push you just that much further.

Taste

This is a hard area to judge this drink on, because you will get very different opinions from different people. Some people positively love this stuff, and some people would rather take a bullet then a can of it. Personally, I think it is delicious. I will admit that at first I was iffy about where I stood on the flavor, but after a couple cans of it I was hooked. Perhaps we should call this one an acquired taste, as it seems to get better as you have more.

On the can, the powers that be have labeled the flavor as an ‘Invigorating Blast of Citrus Cherry’. I would have called it ‘Orange Soda with a Hint of Cherry Cough Syrup’, which may sound nasty, but comes out as a surprisingly tasty mix. I suggest you try a can before buying several twelve packs of the stuff, but make sure you stock up on it if you like it as it will be gone soon!

The Verdict: A soda with extra caffeine and a Halo 3 theme? Count me in! Hey it tastes pretty good too. If you are not completely sick of the Halo 3 marketing machine, then I recommend you try out at least one bottle of Game Fuel.

Indiana Jones IV Titled

indianajonesandthekingdomofthecrystalskullfilm_855_18274129_0_0_7005105_300.jpg

Everyone is excited about the new Indiana Jones movie and it seems that Shia Labeouf let the title slip at the MTV Music Awards. The title he revealed was ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’, and it turned out to be the actual title after all as it has been confirmed on the official website. The film is set to release on May 22nd, 2008 and will be featuring the Indiana Jones that everyone loves, Harrison Ford. Even though he is pretty old, we hope the movie turns out great and he doesn’t dislocate his hip during production.

Halo 3 Museum Online

halo_3_legendary_edition.jpg

With the Microsoft Ad machine for Halo 3 in full swing, they have just released a virtual Halo 3 museum online to coincide with their veteran/museum ad campaign. The website allows you to virtually tour the diarama featured in the commercial. This is pretty cool because it allows you to watch relevent videos and download wallpapers as you go through the tour. This actually gets me more excited to see the actual diarama more than anything. Well, everyone get excited because you can probably tell that everyone in RotPod is.

Join the Rotpod Halo 2 Farwell “LAN” Party (From Home)

halo2goodbye.jpg

As a gesture which will act as a goodbye ceremony for our beloved Halo 2, the guys at Rotpod are planning a little LAN party for the weekend right before the launch of Halo 3. Since we would never be able to handle the grief on our own, we would like to invite our readers (or internet drifters who may just be passing through) to join in on the fun!

Don’t worry though, because thanks to the miracle of the interwebz (and the subsequent miraclet of Xbox Live), you wont have to haul your ass all the way down here to play with us. That’s right, you can hop into the fray from the comfort of your own home! We will obviously only be able to accommodate 16 players per party, so space will be limited. Just shoot me an email (pat@rotpod.com) or send me a message over XBL (SgtSpade55) if you want to get in on the action!

More details will emerge as we get closer to the event, such as the exact time/date of our Lan Party and who will be able to get in each phase of it. It’s going to be a first come first serve kind of deal, so make sure you get back to me right away!

Countdown to Halo 3 – 10 Days Left

halo-3-screencap-03.jpg

One of the most exciting releases in the history of gaming is only 10 days away, and Rotpod will be celebrating by making a new Halo related post each solar day up until the big launch on the 25th. Can you even contain your excitement, or are you unfazed by all of the Halo hullabaloo? Either way I’m sure that you will come across the game in some way shape or form, so you better start getting ready, as we are just under two weeks away from finishing the fight!

For me, that means a 2 week long Halo 2 binge to straighten out the old kinks. Nice!

PGR 4 Goes Gold

medium_1342072575_683f374b6a_o.jpg

When Bizzare Creations told us that they would not be releasing Project Gotham Racing 4 before it was good and finished, I’m sure some gamers feared that there would be more than just a few minor delays to push the title back. Now that its all done with and ready to be shipped off for distribution however, fans of the Xbox 360’s premier arcade racing series should be able to rest just a little easier. So jump on that bike or hop into that Ferrari, because PGR4 will be drifting onto your 360 on Oct. 2nd.

Back at Last!

admiral_piett.jpg

It feels good to be home! You may (or may not) have noticed that I have sortof been M.I.A. for the past 3-4 days without any sort of formal (or informal) explaination. Well I’m happy to let everybody know that after being unexpectedly hospitalized from early in the week up until today, I’m back in action and ready to deliver all the the gaming news I can get my hands on once again.

I might be a little sluggish for a few days, as I am in a bit of a recovery stage for now, but since I am advised to keep it easy when it comes to just about everything, I should be sitting in front of the ‘old lappy quite a bit. That means more posts for you! Hey, I gotta make up my lost ground somehow!

So guys, what did I miss?

MGS4 and MGS Online Playable at TGS07

tokyogameshow.jpg

The most anticipated game for the PS3, which is cited by almost all PS3 owners to own a PS3 will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2007. I know, this may decide the fate of the PS3. All this was said on the Kojima Productions podcast, which you can find here. The podcast also mentioned a new trailer that may border spoiler territory for hardcore MGS fans. But, everyone needs to get excited because TGS is close and that means many highly anticipated games will hopefully be playable.

Skate. Pushed Back Two Days

alexis8.png

This may be the smallest delay in gaming history, but nonetheless someone will care. Skate., which was originally scheduled for Wednesday September 12th, has been pushed back to Friday, September 14th.  However, if you were really waiting for the game that much you can continue playing the 360 demo or maybe just go outside and try to learn to actually skate. Maybe, just maybe.

GameSpot Opens Up COD4 Beta Tokens

call-of-duty-4.jpg

So, you didn’t make it into the Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer Beta the first time they opened up registration? No doubt, you were sad because the game is one of the most anticipated this year and that is saying something and the beta is also one of the best multiplayer expirences in a while. But, you don’t have to fret because GameSpot has come to the rescue

GameSpot has a huge amount of COD4 Beta Tokens (100,000) to be exact and they are willing to give them to you for a very cheap price. In fact so cheap, that you only have to sign up for a GameSpot account, be over 17 and have a Xbox Live Gold Membership and the storage space for the download. They will give the invites in five different fiveaways, and you only have to post on the forum and if you are selected you will get a confirmation email. It’s as easy as that.

Check out GameSpot.com for more details.

Valve: Orange Box is Confirmed Delayed for the PS3

orange.jpg

Today, Valve has confirmed that the PS3 version of the Valve: Orange Box will be delayed about two or three weeks. Lombardi, head of Valve development, made it clear that this is not the consoles fault, but more EA UK’s fault because they are behind the development as compared to Valve with the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game. As a result, Valve see’s no reason to delay the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game just for the PS3. Two or three weeks isn’t that bad and I don’t suspect many people that have a PS3 will be that eager to buy this on launch for the PS3 seeing that EA develops the version and EA does seem to be having probelems developing games for the PS3.

Tentative PS3 Home Release Date for October 11th [Update]

ps3_home_1.jpg

Kotaku.com recently recieved an anonymous tip about a variety of Playstation-Brand game release dates. On the list was Playstation Home which was listed for a release of October 11, 2007. Home is Sony’s competitor to the friend and communication features in Xbox Live, but with a second life sort-of twist. You are able to make your own modeled avatar and have him/her walk around the world in between his apartment and public areas where you can meet and conversate with people. There have been some previews with this and people have been satisfied pointing out that it is much easier than many people think and actually quite innovative. But, we have no idea on how the novelty will last of throwing parties and walking around meet people. On Kotaku’s list was also some big games from Europe like GT5: Prolouge, which was scheduled for December 2007. Other big games were Rachet and Clank for November 7/11/2007. Remember that these are all European dates, so no luck in America.

[Update: Sony has denied this Home release date. We will report as we get more developments on this story.]
